Viola
Hi, I’m a violist from Johns Creek, Georgia who is currently a senior at Johns Creek High School. After being introduced to music through the piano at age 4, I was inspired to pick up the viola from age 8, and I’m currently learning from Ms. Amy Chang at William Pu Music Academy.
In 2022, I was selected to take part in the National Youth Orchestra of the U.S.A., which performed concerts at Carnegie Hall and other major concert halls in Europe with maestro Daniel Harding and cellist Alisa Weilerstein.
I’ve been a part of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra since 2018 (8th grade) and I’ve been the viola principal for four consecutive years. I’ve also been part of the Georgia All State Orchestra since 2017 (6th grade) as the principal for 2021 (10th grade), and the associate principal for 2018 (7th grade), 2020 (9th grade) and 2021 (11th grade).
In addition to my orchestral experiences, I’ve won 1st place for my division in the Georgia Music Teachers Association State Competition for Strings/Guitar as an Outstanding Performer 2019, 2020 and 2022, and I have performed in the GMTA State Conference Recital for those years at Columbus State University. Also, I have been given the Award of Excellence for the GMTA Instrumental Concerto Competition in 2019 and 2020, as well as the Outstanding Performer in 2022. I was the 1st place winner in the Senior Strings Division for the 2020 Atlanta Festival Academy Competition and was awarded a full scholarship to participate in the 2021 Atlanta Festival Academy.
In 2019, I was awarded the 2019 Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition School Prize as part of the Carbon Quartet. And together with the members of the Carbon Quartet, I co-founded the organization Strings for Services in 2019, which is a volunteer chamber group that performs for community members.
